The holidays often blur routines, but water safety should never take a break. Even confident swimmers need clear rules around the pool. Adult supervision, locked gates, and calm entry into the water all help prevent accidents during busy festive days. Swimming lessons support safety, but awareness at home makes the real difference. 📞 082 772 5188 📍 Fourways | Paulshof | Kensington Save this as a reminder for the rest of summer.

South African summers are made for water fun. Whether you’re heading to the coast or enjoying a pool at home, remind children to stay calm, float when tired, and always swim where an adult can see them. These are skills we practise regularly in lessons because real life doesn’t pause for holidays. 📞 082 772 5188 📍 Fourways | Paulshof | Kensington Share this with someone travelling this weekend.

The festive season means more pool time, more guests, and more distractions. Before the celebrations begin, take five minutes to check your pool gate, net, and surroundings. Remove loose toys, check locks, and decide who is supervising the water. Pool safety is not just about swimming skills. Always check that your pool gate is locked, even during busy braais or when guests are around. Never assume someone else is watching. Swimming lessons and supervision go hand in hand when it comes to keeping children safe. 📞 082 772 5188 📍 Fourways | Paulshof | Kensington Save this as a gentle reminder.
Water self rescue is about knowing what to do if you accidentally fall in. Skills like floating on the back, rolling to breathe, and moving towards the wall are life skills we practise regularly in lessons. At home, you can reinforce this by practising calm floating and gentle kicks while holding hands or the side of the pool. 📞 082 772 5188 📍 Fourways | Paulshof | Kensington Confidence grows through calm, consistent practice.
Getting out of the pool safely is just as important as getting in. We teach children the arm, arm, leg, leg method so they know how to climb out calmly and confidently. At home, practise this with supervision. Repetition builds muscle memory and confidence, especially for little ones. 📞 082 772 5188 📍 Fourways | Paulshof | Kensington Share this with another parent who has a pool at home.
Our Fourways babies smashed 2025 out of the park. From under 2 years of age our babies are submerging happily and just loving the water. Creating a love for water is our motto and these baby faces just shine with happiness. Keep swimming our little ones, we will see you in our learn to swim program when you graduate in 2026.
One of the simplest and most powerful swimming skills can be practised in the bath. Encourage your child to blow bubbles in the water. Humming, blowing raspberries, or pretending to be a fish all help teach breath control and comfort with water on the face. This small habit makes a big difference when learning to swim. 📞 082 772 5188 📍 Fourways | Paulshof | Kensington Try this tonight and let us know how it goes.
Swimming confidence grows when kids feel relaxed and playful in the water. At home, try turning pool time into game time. Splash together, chase floating toys, or count kicks while holding the side. When kids associate water with fun, learning becomes easier and fear fades away. Little moments like these support what we teach in lessons and build confidence between sessions. 📞 082 772 5188 📍 Fourways | Paulshof | Kensington Save this post for your next pool day.

#babyswimming #learntoswim #swimminglessons Teacher Gabby's tip of the week! Standing in water and playing is excellent for learning balance. An added tip. Don't forget your ready go command to submerge in water. We LOVE what we do! Come be a part of something special. Contact Nicki on 082 772 5188.
Wacky Wednesday Tip of the week. Our babies just love our Command, "Ready, Go!" The "Ready Go!" Command teaches our children that this is a cue that they are going to go under the water. This allows breath hold or bubble to take place and ingestion of water is avoided.
Fantastic Friday Tip of the day by Nicki. We underestimate our children's abilities in the pool. Get your child to hold the wall by placing one knee under their bottom and holding their hands. Let go of one hand and watch for the grip. Let go of both hands and then lastly once both hands are gripping drop your knee. Survival skill 1. Survival skill 2. Place a toy just out of arms reach for your child to reach for in the water. Watch how strong they are and how they can hold the wall with just one hand and then recover by holding with 2 hands. #learntoswim
Floating on your back is a very important life skill. Give your child a book to read while floating on your shoulder. Keep your cheek close to your child and dip your shoulders in and head back. What a lovely Terrific Thursday tip of the week by Teacher Gabby and Yvonne. #swimminglessons #learntoswim
Terrific Tuesday tip of the week. Teacher Nicki focuses on the importance of climbing out the pool. Get your child to choose a FUN toy. Place it out of arms length outside the pool. Help your child to climb out by encouraging arms then tummy. Once on tummy leave your child to figure out how to get their legs out by encouraging them to go fetch their toy.
